    Anika Smulovitz is an artist, metalsmith, and professor of art at Boise State University, where she has taught since 2003. She has both MFA and MA degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a BFA from the University of Oregon. Within the art department, she serves as the director of the art metals area of emphasis and as advisor for the Art Metals Club. Smulovitz’ work appears in numerous publications, is exhibited nationally and internationally, and is part of the permanent collection of The Jewish Museum in New York. She is a member of the board of directors of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, and is the board liaison for the editorial advisory committee for Metalsmith magazine. Her current research is focused on the non-neutrality of materials, issues of adornment and the body. She holds a United States Design Patent for her Lip Liners, a custom-made lip adornment. In 2012, Smulovitz was selected as an honoree in the Arts and Humanities Research Fellows program at Boise State, recognizing and supporting her research in “Contemporary Judaica: Ritual in the 21st Century”.
