About

Vicken Hillis started at Boise State University in 2016 and is an Assistant Professor of Human-Environment Systems in the College of Innovation and Design.  He previously worked as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Institutions, Behavior, and Environment in the School of Sustainability at Arizona State University and was a postdoctoral researcher at University of California, Davis. Dr. Hillis received his Ph.D. in Ecology from UCD with an emphasis on environmental policy and human ecology as well as an M.S. from the UCD, specializing in international agricultural development. In his current research, he uses a cultural evolutionary perspective to study the dynamics of human behavior and institutions in environmental contexts, employing a range of quantitative methods including computational models, surveys and behavioral experiments.
