    Dr. Arthur Scarritt joined the faculty of the Department of Sociology at Boise State University in 2007. He has a B.A. in Latin American Studies from The Evergreen State College, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His dissertation was titled "The Rattle of Burnt Bread: Indigenous Immobilization and Land Loss in Highland Peru, 1982-2003." With a particular interest in how the organization of society perpetuates racial inequalities, and strategies for overcoming these unequal relations, Dr. Scarritt's broad areas of interest include globalization, race and ethnicity, inequality, political sociology, Latino studies, and gender. He is a member of the Society for the Study of Social Problems, the Pacific Sociological Association, the American Sociological Association, and the Association of Black Sociologists, and he serves as a manuscript reviewer for American Journal of Sociology, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Critical Sociology.
