Dr. Arvin Farid is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Civil Engineering. After earning his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Northeastern University in Boston in 2004, Dr. Farid served as an Associate Research Scientist with The Gordon CenSSIS (Center for Subsurface Sensing and Imaging Systems). Since joining Boise State, Dr. Farid has been involved with a variety of projects. His research interests include stimulation of geoenvironmental remediation technologies, dam and levee health monitoring, subsurface sensing, sensor fusion for rapid soil characterization, and contaminant detection using radar. In addition to teaching several engineering courses, Dr. Farid has supervised both graduate and undergraduate student research projects. Recent publications have included articles in ASCE - Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, IEEE - Transactions of Geoscience and Remote Sensing, and ASCE Journal of Engineering Mechanics.
Dr. Farid has two active research awards from NSF (National Science Foundation) and ITD (Idaho Transportation Department).
