Dr. Brian Jackson specializes in planetary science (extrasolar planets, or exoplanets, in particular), and comes to Boise State from the Carnegie Department of Terrestrial Magnetism in Washington D.C. where he worked for three years under a postdoctoral fellowship. His research focus is on planetary origins and dynamical evolution which works in conjunction with his emphasis on locating new exoplanets. Dr. Jackson received his Ph.D. in Planetary Sciences from the University of Arizona and his B.S. in Physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Besides his research and publications, he has participated in several science documentaries including National Geographic’s Wild Case Files and is a regular contributor to Astronomy Magazine’s “Ask Astro” feature.
