About
Dr. V. Dorsey Wanless came to Boise State from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution where she was a NSF Postdoctoral Fellow. She obtained her Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Florida, a M.S in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Hawai’i, and a B.A. in Geology from Colgate University. Her research focuses on igneous petrology and geochemistry and its connection to the evolution of magmas. Her studies and expertise have allowed her to embark on various field research outings including as a side-scan sonar analyst on an investigative search cruise for the downed Air France Flight #447 within the flanks of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. She is currently a member of the American Geophysical Union, Geologic Society of America, and the Geochemical Society.
