About

Dr. Gunes Uzer joined the Department of Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering at Boise State in 2016 and is currently an Assistant Professor. Previously, he worked as a research associate in the Department of Medicine at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Dr. Uzer obtained his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2013, and his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2008 both from Stony Brook University in New York. His work focuses on defining the mechanical control of stem cell structure, function, and fate. He was recently awarded a National Space Biomedical Research Institute Fellowship to investigate the effects of microgravity on cell nucleoskeleton and received funding from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey to study stem cell aging.
