    Dr. James E. Fredricksen currently serves the Deputy Directory of Institute for Inclusive and Transformative Scholarship. After being a middle school teacher for 11 years in Ohio and Illinois, he earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Policy from Michigan State University in 2008, and then joined the faculty of the Department of English at Boise State University. He also earned a Masters in Writing from DePaul University, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from North Central College, and a B.A. in English from Indiana University. Dr. Fredricksen’s scholarship and interests sit at the intersection of learning, design, and contexts. His extensive teaching and research speaks to his expertise in the power of diverse voices and perspectives, and evidence-based research in bringing about change.
