About

Dr. Jay Carlisle received his B.S. in Ecology from The Evergreen State College in 1995 and his Ph.D. in Biology from the University of South Dakota in 2005. He now serves on the research faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences at Boise State University, and as Research Director for the Idaho Bird Observatory. Dr. Carlisle’s current research interests are focused on the stopover ecology, habitat needs, and conservation of migratory landbirds in the West and in Latin America. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications, book reviews, and reports, many of which focus on migration and stopover issues, and has served as a reviewer for The Auk, The Condor, Journal of Field Ornithology, Ornitologia Neotropical, and Northwestern Naturalist. Dr. Carlisle also enjoys the education and outreach opportunities associated with his migration research activities and hopes to instill a conservation ethic in students, young biologists, and community volunteers.
