About
Dr. Laxman Mainali started at Boise State University in 2019 and is currently an assistant professor with the Department of Physics. He received his Ph.D. in Physics specializing in Biophysics and an M.S. in Physics both from the University at Albany, SUNY, and an M.Sc. in Physics from Tribhuvan University. Dr. Mainali’s Ph.D. research focused on the development and applications of state-of-the art Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) techniques and methods to study the structure, dynamics and function of biomolecules. His work has also included investigating the structural and dynamic properties of the lens lipids and intact membranes from porcine and human eye lenses. One of the significant findings if this particular research is the cholesterol bilayer domain playing a positive physiological role in maintaining an eye’s lens transparency and possibly protecting against cataract formation.
