Dr. Leslie Atkins joined Boise State University’s Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Foundational Studies’ IDoTeach Program in 2016. Dr. Atkins received her Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland studying analogies as categorization phenomena. She has received several grants, including an NSF grant to transform writing and literacy practices in the inquiry classroom. Prior to coming to Boise State Dr. Atkins taught at California State University - Chico where she received the Professional Achievement Honor – a recognition for faculty who are providing “unique and exciting learning opportunities for students.” Her research interests focus on the technique of teaching science to students by having them do experiments and participate in scientific debates.
