About

Dr. Lisa M. Brady earned her Ph.D. in History from the University of Kansas in 2003, and has been with Boise State University's Department of History since then, where she teaches courses in North American and Global Environmental History, World History, and Historiography. She also holds an M.A. in History from the University of Sydney in Australia, and an M.Ed. in Secondary Social Science Education from Montana State University-Billings. Dr. Brady's first book, 'War Upon the Land: Military Strategy and the Transformation of Southern Landscapes During the American Civil War', was published by the University of Georgia Press. Her current research continues her examination of the relationships between war and nature, focusing on Korea during the twentieth century.
Dr. Brady serves as a pre-publication manuscript reviewer for a number of journals including Civil War History, Idaho Issues Online, and Environmental History where she is also an Associate Editor. She is active on a national, regional, and state level including leadership posts in the Forest History Society, The American Society for Environmental History, and the Idaho Humanities Council. With the goal of helping those in the learning community to understand their place in the world, she shares her love of learning and history through teaching, writing, and presentations.
