    About

    Dr. Martin Orr earned his Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Oregon in 1992, and joined the faculty of the Department of Sociology at Boise State University in 1995. His dissertation documented the effects of the civil rights movement upon the development of sociological theories of race and ethnicity. He has continued to explore the historical and political context of theories of society, and has researched the anti-globalization movement, published on social movements in Northern Ireland, and continues to monitor the media. In addition to campus activities, and professional associations, Dr. Orr has been active in the community, through leadership of The Idaho Media Project, and as a facilitator and speaker for numerous groups including The Idaho Statesman, Treasure Valley Public Access Television, the Snake River Alliance, the Idaho Women's Network, Leadership Boise, and the Idaho Inclusiveness Coalition.
