    Dr. Michal Temkin Martínez is a professor of Linguistics and founding director of the Mary Ellen Ryder Linguistics Lab with the Department of Linguistics. She earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Southern California (USC). She is an experimental phonologist, and her main areas of research focus on phonology, phonetics and psycholinguistics with a particular interest in variation and exceptionality. Her research on variation has focused on Modern Hebrew and Rioplatense Spanish. As Director of the Boise Language Project (BLP), she has also been working on the documentation of languages spoken by refugees residing in the Boise area. She is currently working on a collaborative project with Professor Emeritus Jon Dayley and Somali-Bantu community members to document Chizigula. Dr. Temkin Martínez has been at Boise State University since Fall 2009 and has taught Introduction to Language Studies, Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology, Psycholinguistics, Linguistics in Education, Language and Mind, and the Capstone course in Linguistic Field Methods.
