Dr. Michael J. Mann started at Boise State University in 2018 and is currently a professor and the Director of the School of Public and Population Health. He earned his Ph.D. in Health and Human Behavior and his M.S. in Health Science Education both from the University of Florida. Prior to joining Boise State, Dr. Mann was an Associate Professor at West Virginia University’s School of Public Health where he also functioned as the Director of MPH Programs and was the Co-Director for the ICE Collaborative (Integrated Community Engagement). His recent research focuses on the intersection between public health and public schooling, especially academic achievement as a social determinant of health, student mental health promotion, and school+community substance abuse prevention partnerships. Dr. Mann continues to co-direct the ICE Collaborative and is currently a member of the American School Health Association’s national board of directors, the National Committee on the Future of School Health Education, and the National School Health Education Teacher Preparation Program Standards Committee.
