About
Dr. Sasha Wang came to the Department of Mathematics at Boise State University with an M.S. in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education from Michigan State University. She also has a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Hawaii, and a B.A. in Chinese and Philosophy from East China Normal University in Shanghai. Dr. Wang is interested in teaching and learning of geometry. She has studied the work of Sfard and the van Hieles on geometric thinking. The title of her dissertation was "The van Hiele Theory Through the Discursive Lens: Prospective Teachers' Geometric Discourses", and has worked to build an analytic framework for classifying/analyzing the development of geometric discourse in the context of quadrilaterals. She was a Doctoral Fellow at the Center for the Study of Mathematics Curriculum, funded by the National Science Foundation, and also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for the Connected Mathematics Project 2 (CMP2) at Michigan State University.
