    About

Dr. Stephanie J. Galla is currently an Assistant Professor in Avian Biology with the Department of Biological Sciences and the PI of the Conservation Genetics Lab at Boise State University.  She earned a Doctorate in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, an M.Sc. in Biology from the University of North Texas, and a B.Sc. in Wildlife Biology from Murray State University. Dr. Galla is interested in interdisciplinary conservation efforts for species in decline, and in particular, how genomic technologies can inform management decisions.  Her work as a post-doctoral research scientist at Boise State University funded by NSF EPSCoR used a combination of genomic technologies and agent-based models to understand how diverse species (e.g., big sagebrush, Greater Sage-grouse, and American Kestrels) may respond to a changing world. Dr. Galla enjoys creating science illustrations and is a cofounder of the Kindness in Science collective in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
