About

Dr. Uwe Kaiser came to Boise State University in 2001 as a member of the faculty of the Department of Mathematics. He taught previously at the Universität Siegen in Germany, where he earned his Dr. rer. nat. degree in Mathematics in 1989. In 1998, with the required combination of scholarship and teaching experience, Dr. Kaiser qualified for the added distinction of Habilitation (Venia Legendi) in Mathematics, also earned from the Universität Siegen.

Dr. Kaiser continues to pursue his research interests in the topology of manifolds, including the embeddings, immersions and singularities of maps and in particular 3-dimensional topology; the theory of knots and links, quantum topology; and related studies in homotopy theory and algebra. He is presently working on topological quantum field theories and categorification.
He serves as the organizer of the Topology Seminar in the Department of Mathematics at Boise State, reviews and referees for numerous mathematical journals, and maintains memberships in professional organizations including the American Mathematical Society and Deutscher Mathematiker Verband.
