Starting at Boise State University in 2018, Dr. Zhangxian Deng is currently an assistant professor with the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Ohio State University and his B.E. in Mechatronics Engineering from Zhejiang University. Dr. Deng’s research interests involve a combination of smart materials and system dynamics, with a specific focus on such areas as lightweight and solid-state smart devices for structural vibration control and vibration energy harvesting.  His previous professional experience includes collaborative research at the NASA Glenn Research Center and the NSF I/UCRC Smart Vehicle Concepts Center at the Ohio State University.
