Abstract

The fabrication of piezoelectric ceramic CaBi2Nb 2O9 by ordinary firing (OF) and SPS was analyzed. The x-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of SPS ceramic surfaces cut perpendicular and parallel to the hot-pressing direction compared with a pattern of non-textured OF CBNO ceramic were presented. The XRD pattern parallel to the hot-pressing direction exhibited strong diffraction peaks while the pattern perpendicular to the hot-pressing direction showed weak peaks and a strong peak. Analysis suggests that the CBNO showed some chemical disorder on both the perovskite A-site and Bi2O2 layer.
