An Evaluation of the Effects of Adult Basic Education on Rearrest Rates among Probationers

Abstract

Compared 50 adult probationers who participated in a GED (general equivalency diploma) preparation program with 50 non-participant probationers in terms of rearrest rates. It was found that GED participation significantly reduced recidivism during a three-and-one-half-year period.
