Abstract

The fourth industrial revolution is poised to transform the society and the economy we live and work in, which is likely to be well under way by 2030 (Morgan, 2020). Proponents of the fourth industrial revolution postulate that the combination of new technologies, such as machine learning, natural language coding, cloud computing, nanotechnology, sensors, 3D printing, internet of things, and artificial intelligence (AI), holds the transformative power over our societies and economies. Advances made in emotional AI can assist businesses by capturing emotional reactions in real time by decoding facial expressions, measuring neurological immersion levels, analyzing voice patterns, and so on, which would enable organizations to better understand their employees as well as their customers (Purdy et al., 2019).
