Abstract

Value based education positions students as instruments of the rank and file skills-based workforce. Cultivated to be understood as objective reality, this condition isolates and alienates students the student’s ontological and social development. Consequently, anti- intellectualism is normalized as learned codes of behavior are performed socially. Educationally, several factors synergistically ingrain students with a perceived objective consciousness, including top down educational policy, commodification of difference, distraction and normalization of neoliberal codes of conduct, a sense of morality tied to citizenship, and civilized absurdity, situating students as mere abstractions of living experience as they accept life as citizen worker.
