Abstract
Brazil is the largest and most populous country in Latin America. It is a country of contrasts, for there are vast cultural, geographical, social, and economic differences among regions. In large urban areas, the most economically privileged layers of the population have access to state-of-the-art education, health services, and quality leisure. The less privileged, however, live in poverty. Although Brazil has shown sustained economic growth and improved income distribution since 2000, social inequality is still significant and a major problem the country has not overcome. Nevertheless, employment rates have increased and more students have enrolled in higher education, suggesting increased potential for personal and social development. In this chapter, we discuss career-related counseling services offered within the landscape of this vibrant and unique developing country.
