When searching for a place to attend graduate school, I happened upon some inspiring sociologists studying just that. I was impressed at the time with the ways in which many of these scholars did not just study communities, but actively engaged with communities in the research process. This has motivated me to pursue similar research projects, including a recent project funded by an ASA CARI grant, which examined food accessibility and related issues at the Duck Valley Indian Reservation.
