Abstract

Boise State University’s 2006 mission statement sharpened campus awareness of opportunities available to a large university located in the region’s major metropolitan area. The College of Arts and Sciences moved quickly to develop strategies for changing the climate in its eleven diverse departments. This poster outlines specifi c steps the College took to expand its network of community connections, to support individuals engaged with the community, and to integrate research, engagement, and teaching. A new College mission statement, re-allocation of resources, redesigned guidelines for tenure and promotion, and vibrant discussion of possibilities yielded success and a clear vision of further opportunities.
