Abstract
What is it about the human mind that seeks to recognize ourselves where we do not exist? Is it merely our finely evolved skills in pattern recognition, the precisely connected neurons of the fusiform face area and the extrastriate body area? Or is it something else, something from the prefrontal cortex instead—the desire to see ourselves recognized and reflected, to find connection with others like us?
