Abstract
Can a derived field, one that is as complex as performance improvement, have a conscience? And, what does a field comprise of? If businesses can be questioned whether they possess a corporate conscience, can we pose a similar question to a field? Kaufman and Clark (1999) had suggested that our field was at risk morphing into “yesterday's news” (p. 14); the concern raised by Kaufman and Clark in 1999 still holds true in 2021. Does it seem prudent to question the conscience of the fading presence of our field?
