Abstract
The characterization of a tethered epoxide associated with a coordinatively unsaturated rhenium oxo complex was investigated. The rhenium complex prepared via a multistep route was studied for reductive deoxygenation with PPh3. The deoxygenation resulted in a species whose nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) based characteristics were consistent with expectation for a rhenium(V)-epoxide complex.
