Abstract

The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration's 1993 Lead Exposure Mandate necessitates lead paint removal in preparation for cutting, welding, or burning on lead-painted surfaces. Chemical stripping and chipping with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) vacuuming filters are the two lead paint removal techniques. Chemical stripping involves the use of alkaline strippers like magnesium hydroxide or the use of organic-based strippers such as meltroline chloride. Some capital outlay pose disadvantages of mechanical systems.
