Abstract

Decreasing CO2 emission is an essential task for minimizing environmental pollution and global warming. A sufficient amount of wind power added to the grid can reduce CO2 emission. This particular study presents a grid connected operation of wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). Mathematical model of permanent magnet synchronous generator has been designed to use in MATLAB/Simulink. Dynamic behavior of the wind turbine model can be analyzed by changing wind speed, pitch angel, load and inverter output parameters. Power electronic converters are used for grid connection of the permanent magnet synchronous generator. Simulation studies are performed to test of the proposed model. The results show that, the proposed model can successfully transfer the power from wind turbine to grid.
