Abstract

The IDoTeach program at Boise State University is developing an instrument to measure teacher candidates’ attentiveness to student thinking situated in key disciplinary-specific contexts; the instrument is designed to inform program improvement and evaluation. In this chapter, we describe the need for such an assessment, its development process, and how the assessment may be used to inform program improvement. This work builds on prior instrument development in mathematics (Carney, Cavey, & Hughes, 2017) and expands to capture the range of disciplines in the IDoTeach program.
