Abstract

Asians use martial skills and strategies with equal effectiveness in the boardroom and office. They use these skills for competition as well as to improve cooperative relationships. In this article, we attempt to demystify these skills and strategies. We believe you will find them fairly straightforward when stripped of their jargon and applied to client-consultant interactions in our own culture.

Essentially, what the Asians have that is unique, from our perspective at least, are different strategies for acquiring and applying the knowledge and skills needed to effectively influence people and manage resources.
