Abstract

The reader will gain greater understanding of how the emergence of mind-body practice within the medical and psychological fields has led to a holistic conceptualization of health and well-being. Insight will be gained into how the Five Cardinal Mental Skills Model of sport psychology can assist with integration of physical and mental aspects of well-being in the exercise and fitness arena. Strategies for integration of the model, as well as specific considerations related to client safety, retention, and professional scope of practice will be discussed.
