Abstract
This paper will discuss our inquiry into an after-school program designed in a third space of “hybrid teacher education” (Zeichner, 2010) where an elementary teacher education program and one Title 1 Elementary school with a large population of refugee students worked together to provide a space for enhanced academic and social development for first – sixth graders. This inquiry is important as it explores a partnership geared toward transformative learning experiences for all of its partners. In particular, the authors were interested in how the partnership worked on an institutional level; how the teacher education candidates perceived their roles and experiences; and what influences the program may have had for the elementary students and their school context.
