Abstract

This paper outlines variables needed to develop educational games, to specially enhance player's intrinsic motivation. The variables integrated in motivating entertainments games are outlined so they can be applied to the design of educational games that are based on prescribed learning objectives. The aim of this paper is to synthesize a number of competing theories into a framework that can guide not only further theorizing, but also the design of instructional environments.
