Abstract
The presentation documented the mental health and substance abuse problems among juveniles in Idaho’s 12 juvenile detention centers, as well as stakeholders’ perceptions of the program. The research team also offered comparisons of the prevalence rates for those problems for the last five years in Idaho’s detention centers. The team made recommendations for helping juveniles with these problems to reduce the likelihood that they become repeat offenders and enter the adult corrections system.
