Abstract
In this chapter, we share our experiences designing and implementing the program. While we have built a case for some of the unique challenges those of us who are critical college sports scholars face within the academy, we believe our findings can apply across disciplines and fields. In the forthcoming sections we discuss how we designed the grant, conceptualized the colloquium, and enacted our programming. We offer lessons throughout each phase and conclude with visions for our colloquium outcomes. In the final section, we consider how the colloquium can become a model to create humanizing, collective, and enriching academic research, programming, and presentation spaces.
