Abstract
We document the properties of Las Vegas Valley clays, as data has become available due to recent increase in residential, commerical, and infrastructure development in the area. The documentation will assist geotechnical engineers in efficient planning of geotechnical site investigations. We describe the surficial geology of the Las Vegas Valley with an emphasis on the origin and distribution of clays. A compilation of the engineering properties related to expansion, hydrocollapse and consolidation is then presented, followed by a discussion of the clay and secondary mineralogies. -after Authors
