High-Impact Information Literacy Collaborations for Student Success

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

In an effort to move beyond the one-shot model, the Student Success & Engagement Team at one university library has developed three high-impact models of collaboration to better support information literacy instruction throughout the curriculum.

The constraints of the one-shot instruction session are widely felt, and it is common to see students who miss out on instruction to support information literacy skill development early on, even as others receive multiple redundant lessons.

These three models — Strategic Scaffolding, Digital Integration, and Faculty Support — address this imbalance and can create a more equitable information literacy landscape across any size institution.

We will discuss each model and an example of how it has been used successfully at San Francisco State University, a large public minority-serving institution (HSI, AANAPISI). And we hope to hear how you're tackling these issues, too!
