Abstract
Over the past 20 y, numerous studies have shown that individuals who consume organic diets have lower exposure to certain classes of synthetic agricultural pesticides than those who consume conventional diets (1–12). This finding has been consistent across study populations (adults, families, children, pregnant women) recruited from different countries (the United States, France, Israel, Australia, Switzerland, Cyprus) and has been evaluated using a variety of study designs (observational studies, randomized interventions, crossover trials). Although it therefore may appear that this matter has been settled, a close reader of this literature will recognize that several important questions remain.
