Impact of Covid-19 on Mothering Practices among Low-Wage working Immigrant Women Workers

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

Exploring the impact of Covid-19 on underpaid immigrant women workers, in this presentation, I center the stories of Indian and Pakistani immigrant women workers, many of whom are mothers, to illuminate how immigrant women made sense of the Covid-19 shut down and how they continued to be a ‘good mother.’ The discussion extends the increasing conversation on care work by showing how low-wage immigrant women workers engaged in caring for their families
across national boundaries during Covid. The discussion also highlights the Global North-South’s divide connected to ‘quality care’ and how it exacerbates to carework migrant women undertake upon migration.
