Abstract

This paper presents the application of instructional/learning design principles—drawn from authentic learning literature—to foster authentic learning experiences using Extended Reality (XR) technologies. We use the term Extended Reality (XR) as an umbrella concept that encompasses Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), 360° Videos (360° Vs), and Virtual Production Videos (VPVs). Importantly, the paper addresses accessibility and dimensions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) when using such advanced and immersive technologies to design inclusive, appealing, effective, and efficient learning experiences.
