Abstract
In this work, we focus on the use of science in decision making for disaster risk reduction (DRR): how is science used and what can be learned about the process by comparing between hazards, geographic contexts and research disciplines? Using two DRR projects from Bangladesh (earthquakes) and the Western United States (flooding and wildfires), we reflect on recent recommendations on using science for DRR.
