Abstract

Using insights from evolutionary psychology, we examine how evolved biases related to CEO vocal masculinity influence the board's decisions regarding CEO compensation. We also explore how contextual factors moderate the focal relationship. A data-set consisting of CEO speeches from UK FTSE 100 firms from 2004 to 2013 supports our hypotheses.
