Abstract
Mindfulness-based practices have been a focus of research for over 30 years. Particular strategies involving mindfulness have been incorporated into training programs within various health professions. In addition, mindfulness has been suggested as a training technique within counselor education as the benefits of mindfulness cohere with counselor values of wellness, development, and prevention. This article examines the extant mindfulness literature relevant to these values endorsed by counselor education. Next, a case is presented for mindfulness infusion throughout the first semester of counselors-in-training studies. Finally, implications of mindfulness infusion and further research are discussed.
