Abstract
Boise State University has the vision to become a regional and ultimately a national `center-of-excellence' in microelectronics education and research. Research in the areas of photolithography, ultrathin film dielectrics and ferroelectrics, and giga-scale device and capacitor structures have been targeted to match both the needs of the local industry and the expertise of the new faculty. A `hands-on' philosophy is the basic tenet of this new program, and wafer processing, characterization, and/or TCAD simulation is being incorporated into every new microelectronics course.
