Abstract

This lecture presented findings of a study that assessed the efficacy of a new smartphone video capture technology (or app) in documenting nursing student clinical proficiencies. The app allowed instructors to successfully review the videos at a later time.

Using multiple instructors to review the same videos, it was found that training to identify specific behaviors recorded on the videos will be needed beforehand to assure high inter-rater agreement. The new system also offered instructors the ability to provide students with timely and accurate video-linked feedback.
