Abstract

On-line discussions are an important component of on-line education. They can be an effective method for enhanced learning and critical thinking. Discussions give instructors an opportunity to use new and creative teaching strategies that can increase student retention. Discussion guidelines should provide detailed instructions of what is to take place in the discussion. With careful planning and organization, on-line discussions can provide a positive learning experience for the associate degree nursing student.
