Outreach and Marketing Using Twitter: A LITA Guide

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Twitter's mission is "to give everyone the power to create and share ideas and information instantly, without barriers." This simple statement showcases an incredible volume of ideas and information, and one that truly embodies a universal human need to share, expose, reach out, and show the world around and about us. According to Smith (2016), Twitter has over 313 million active monthly users worldwide, with 82 percent of them checking Twitter from their mobile devices, and 79 percent of those users living outside of the United States. Twitter is one of the more established, powerful, globally available, and free platforms available to anyone, and many people are clearly making use of it.
